The Student Financial Services Office at Rhode Island School of Design is hiring a Director of Financial Aid to oversee Student Financial Aid and Student Employment. We are seeking a financial services professional who is committed to working with students and parents to reach the shared goal of preparing and educating creative individuals who aspire to make a meaningful contribution to our world.
Our dedicated staff works to help students and their families seek, obtain and make the best use of all resources available to help finance the costs of attending RISD. By providing student aid through grants, loans, work study programs and scholarships, RISD helps make it possible for qualified students with limited personal financial resources to attend and benefit from the extraordinary education offered at RISD.
The Director of Financial Aid directs and oversees the day-to-day operations of RISD's federal loan and grants programs. The ideal candidate will be well-informed of the industry, technologically savvy and innovative, with the ability to guide and communicate with a variety of constituents. As a financial services professional, this individual will have an in-depth understanding of financial aid regulations, restrictions and best practice protocols, ensuring RISD's compliance, quality of customer service and delivery of student aid to a diverse population. The Director will recommend and provide input to the AVP, Enrollment Services on and play a central leadership role in the implementation and attainment of the strategic initiatives to support enrollment goals. Utilizing their solid leadership skills the Director will hire, lead, develop and manage a Financial Aid Office dedicated to student support and service. In addition the successful incumbent will evaluate and modify quality assurance activity. With an in-depth knowledge of the structure and contents of the student ERP system and a detailed understanding of the daily operations, the Director will develop, maintain, update, test and implement the most effective and productive financial aid uses of our ERP system, leveraging the capability of the system to maximize operations and aid to prospective students.
Job Qualifications Required:
Bachelor's degree required.
Seven years' experience in administering financial aid programs.
Minimum of three year's previous supervisory or leadership experience required.
A thorough knowledge of Title IV regulations and programs is required.
Ability to interpret and apply regulations and to train other staff on best practice protocols.
Federal grant and loan management experience is required.
Excellent communication and organizational skills, strong technological skills including advanced knowledge of integrated financial aid systems, federal processing systems (e.g., COD, NSLDS etc.) and a commitment to student service is required.
Job Qualifications Preferred:
Master's degree preferred.
Ellucian experience is preferred.
Experience developing and implementing financial aid office procedures.
Ability to work with and help foster a diverse and inclusive culture.
