We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Mobility Equipment Technician in the RUSK HJD Department. To qualify a High School Diploma or equivalent with some experience in the application of appropriate tool use is required. Some knowledge of basic wheelchair mechanics required. The ability to lift, push, pull or move equipment needed for patient care. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills required.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for assisting in the delivery of Occupational Therapy services under the direction of ORT/COTA, as indicated. Position includes ancillary responsibilities involving the inventory, maintenance, transportation and modifications of wheelchairs and other therapeautic equipment. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Patient transportation. Transports patients upon request according to safety and departmental guidelines.
Clerical and reception activities. Answers the telephone and takes messages accurately. Maintains records and files correctly in each area as needed. Performs errands promptly upon request.
Surveillance of environmental conditions. Follows established procedures for safety and emergencies. Follows infection control procedures. Follows pest control procedures. Identifies potential hazards and takes appropriate action.
Maintenance of supplies, equipment, and the unit. Monitors the level of inventory and notifies the supervisor if additional supplies are needed. Maintains all occupational therapy equipment by ensuring the equipment is kept clean and in good working condition. Makes recommendations for the repair or replacement of equipment. Prepares the unit for treatment by keeping it clean, orderly, and free of safety hazards.
Assistance in OT Treatment. Follows the instructions given by the Occupational Therapist or the Occupational Therapy Assistant.
Application of functional activities. Uses proper safety measures when facilitating functional activities. Performs accurate follow through as indicated by instruction from the OTR/OTA for specific functional activities for patients.
Responsible for cleaning of durable medical equipment. Responsible for cleaning all departments W/Cs. Responsible for daily cleaning of all pediatric patient equipment. Responsible for after-use cleaning of all appropriate patient use equipment in designated units. Under the oversight of OTR/COTA of Senior Rehab Technician will modify wheelchairs.
