The Alternative Transportation Specialist will provide customer service to Alternative Transportation Center Patrons, to include helping with bicycle maintenance and repair, organizing bicycle maintenance workshops, registering bikes for faculty, staff, and students, answering questions about alternative transportation programs offered by the university, mentoring and supervision of bike hub interns, as well as assisting visitors with daily visitor parking permits and staffing the customer service desk.
- Bike maintenance and bike mechanics skills - Experience teaching bike maintenance and repair to a variety of skill levels -Ability to work independently and without direct supervision for specific periods of the work day -Ability to represent the department at job fairs, orientations, and other university showcase events - Exceptional customer service skills, including the ability to resolve customer issues efficiently and tactfully - Working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel - Willingness to learn new computer programs - Ability to complete documentation and paperwork neatly and accurately - Strong communications skills - Must be available to work occasional evening and weekend.
- Previous experience working in transportation at a university environment - Strong customer service skills working with a diverse customer group. - Experience exhibiting the following bike mechanic skills: adjustments, basics of wheel truing, flat tire repair, brake pad replacement, brake cables and housing replacement, shift cables and housing replacement, and adjustment of derailleurs for proper shifting.
