The University at Buffalo School of Law invites applications for the position of Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion. Reporting to the Vice Dean of Student Affairs, the director provides assistance, mentoring, and support to both individuals and student organizations representing diverse backgrounds. The Director works collaboratively with the Office of the Vice Provost for Equity & Inclusion; the University Office of Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion; Student Affairs and other administrative offices; staff; faculty; and students to build a common vision and direction for ensuring equal opportunity, diversity, and inclusion at the University at Buffalo School of Law. The Director of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion is responsible for ensuring that the law school continues to recognize and value the importance of diversity, inclusion, and equal access in our institution at all levels.
Masters degree with one year experience.
A Master's Degree in higher education administration, counseling or related field or JD strongly preferred. With a JD, 2 or 3 years of experience as a practicing attorney preferred. Prior experience with working on Title IX or sexual harassment and gender violence prevention as well as 1 to 2 years of working in higher education either before or after law school preferred. Strong interpersonal communication skills with high emotional intelligence. Ability to prepare and present written and oral presentations. Must feel comfortable working collaboratively across a spectrum of offices, organizations, and people. Comfortable with improvisation when necessary.
