The Department of Materials Science and Engineering at the University of Delaware invites application for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in the area of experimental nanostructured materials and devices.Areas of research interest include, but are not limited to, active optoelectronic devices, nanophotonics, emergent functionality in layered and heterogeneous materials, and topological materials and devices. The successful candidate will be a major user of the new 8,000-square-foot nanofabrication facility located within the Interdisciplinary Science and Engineering Laboratory. This facility is equipped with state-of-the-art tools for electron-beam and optical lithography, deposition, etching, thermal processing, metrology and packaging. We seek creative and innovative individuals who have demonstrated excellence in research, who will engage in high-quality teaching and mentoring at both the undergraduate and graduate levels, and who are eager to work in a collaborative and interdisciplinary research environment and become leaders in their fields. Candidates conducting research that complements existing strengths in nano-bio interfaces, optoelectronics, electronics, epitaxial materials growth, photonics, renewable energy, or spintronics are especially encouraged to apply.

Candidates must have a PhD degree in materials science and engineering or a related discipline.Applicants should submit a curriculum vita, a 3-6-page research proposal, a one-page statement of teaching experience and interests, and a list of at least four references.
