The Fire and Emergency Compliance Manager is responsible for the fire safety/response and evacuation procedures and preparedness, fire safety programs, drills and training, fire prevention initiatives and building inspections, monitoring of fire detection and suppression equipment and systems, and related safety functions and requirements at the Evelyn Lauder Breast and Imaging Center (BAIC).

Provide required training as directed by the NYC Fire Prevention Code, to all staff and Emergency Action & Fire Safety Plan staff.
Provide feedback to staff supervisors when appropriate, about staff members’ level of preparedness and participation in trainings and drills.
Maintain documentation for MSKCC and certifications to satisfy the Rules of the City of New York.
Act as facility contact for all FDNY inquiries.
Lead communication with the FDNY during alarm conditions. Direct staff in the restoration of fire and sprinkler systems, the replacement of fire hoses and sprinkler heads; and the restart of HVAC equipment.
Maintain sole responsibility for all inspections.
Inspect and document Environment of Care elements of performance and areas related to fire protection. Prepare quarterly Environment of Care reports.
Communicate and ensure compliance to institutional/ departmental policies, procedures, quality standards, improvement initiatives, safety standards, and OSHA requirements.
Maintains documentation for all authorities having jurisdiction; including the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Occupational Health and Safety Administration (OSHA), Joint Commission (JCAHO), New York City Fire Department (FDNY).
Maintains BAIC life safety drawings for record, keeping specific knowledge of pending changes and initiating updates to record set.
Oversee repairs, replacements, maintenance, operations and installations of all parts of fire safety system.
Work closely with Plant Operations Manager for resolution of all fire safety related infrastructure issues.
Maintain adequate inventory of supplies, materials and equipment.
Work with extended team to investigate, solicit bids and purchasing quotations, negotiate terms and pricing, initiate requisitions for procurement of materials, equipment, and contracted services.
In cooperation with the Plant Operations and Security Managers, develops, recommends, maintains and handles capital improvement budget for Fire and Life Safety within the facility. Investigate opportunities for cost savings.

FDNY Certificate of Fitness for Fire Life and Safety Director (F89/T89)
NYC S-12 and S -13 (Citywide sprinkler/standpipe)
NYC W-07 (Fire and Emergency Drill Conductor, Citywide)
Strong verbal and written communicative skills
Ability to interpret and read diagrams, sketches, operating and maintenance manuals, and manufacturers’ specifications and blueprints.
