Bridgewater College, a growing liberal arts college located in the beautiful Shenandoah Valley of Virginia, seeks inquiries, nominations and applications for a new vice president for enrollment management.
Founded in 1880 as the first private coeducational college in Virginia, Bridgewater is a welcoming and vibrant college, committed to academic excellence and a holistic learning experience in the residential liberal arts tradition. Bridgewater’s diverse and inclusive community is committed to understanding and respecting individual differences and actively engaging all of its members. As a liberal arts college, Bridgewater prepares students to gain a comprehensive and integrated understanding of the social sciences, humanities and natural sciences. Situated between the Allegheny and Blue Ridge Mountains near the city of Harrisonburg (population 52,000), Bridgewater’s student population of more than 1,900 is surrounded by history in an area known for its outdoor adventures, music festivals, resorts and museums while only two hours from the Washington, DC and Richmond, VA metropolitan areas.
The new vice president for enrollment management will join Bridgewater during a significant time of momentum and opportunity for the College. Undergraduate enrollment at Bridgewater has increased by nearly 20 percent over a 10 year period, and not only is Bridgewater larger, but it is also more diverse geographically, ethnically and racially. While leading an enrollment operation that has achieved notable success, the vice president will play a critical role in shaping the College’s future, providing the vision for an enrollment effort that is ambitious and supports the success of students. Reporting to President David W. Bushman, and joining a collegial and exceptional senior leadership team, the vice president provides leadership for admissions and financial aid and serves as a key campus partner regarding retention and graduation strategies. The vice president will build upon prior accomplishments and employ new and creative means to expand the College’s reach and ability to attract, select and enroll a greater number of students who are talented, diverse and excited about a Bridgewater education.
The next vice president will be a leader with exceptional analytic, interpersonal and communication skills and the enthusiasm to partner with an engaged community, including the president, senior administration, board of trustees, faculty, staff and students, to achieve Bridgewater’s enrollment goals. The successful candidate will possess a track record of enrollment success; an innovative spirit; a willingness to take calculated risks based on sound research; a high level of technical competence; a desire to continuously improve and grow enrollment; a commitment to access and diversity; and the ability to embrace and greatly extend the mission of the College.
Inquiries, nominations and applications are invited. Review of applications has begun and will continue until the position is filled.
