Reporting to the Assistant Theater Technical Director (ATTD), with some work assigned and supervised by the Theater Technical Director (TTD), the Stage Supervisor supports the performing art series, college and academic programs, and outside events in their use of the Berrie Center performance and support spaces. Stage Supervisor oversees student aides and students performing lab hours in their work on this variety of programming. Stage Supervisor must work a very flexible schedule, including many nights and weekends.
Serves as Technical Supervisor for events in the Berrie Center performance spaces implementing the decisions made in advance by the ATTD and Berrie Center Director. Events include, but are not limited to: professional performing arts programming, campus events, student activities events, and rentals.
Oversees paid student aides in their work on events of the type listed above.
Oversees students in their work on Theater Program productions in conjunction with TTD and/or ATTD.
Performs routine maintenance to theatrical equipment and systems in conjunction with the TTD and/or ATTD.
Meets regularly with the ATTD to determine work schedule and assignments.
A working knowledge of stage electrics, audio, theatrical rigging, and projections is required. Scenery and prop skills are desirable. Knowledge of and experience in stage management is desirable
Must be able to lift 50 pounds and work comfortably at heights.
Must be able to work with a diverse population of artists, faculty, students, and staff and be able to meet flexible work schedule requirements, in particular, nights and weekends.
Must have excellent oral and written communication skills.
Graduation from an accredited college with a Bachelor's Degree in Theater or related field. Relevant experience can be substituted for education on a year for-year basis. Appointee will be required to possess a valid driver's license.
