Massachusetts General Hospital - Pediatric Pulmonology - Assistant in Pediatrics/Assistant Pediatrician
The Department of Pediatrics, Division of Pediatric Pulmonology at Massachusetts General Hospital (MGH) and MassGeneral Hospital for Children (MGHfC) invite applications for full-time appointment as an Assistant in Pediatrics/Assistant Pediatrician to join a multidisciplinary team of clinicians and researchers. The successful candidate will have earned an M.D. or M.D. / Ph.D. or equivalent and be BC/BE in Pediatric Pulmonary. Academic rank at Harvard Medical School is anticipated at the Instructor/Assistant Professor level, commensurate with experience.
Strong clinical demand coupled with a growing research portfolio is driving numerous opportunities to participate in the multidisciplinary care of pediatric pulmonary patients as well as clinical research for treatment of pulmonary disorders. We offer a position with an emphasis on the inpatient, outpatient and community based care of patients with complex medical and surgical problems, including children with asthma, bronchopulmonary dysplasia, bronchiectasis, diffuse lung disease, congenital lung disease, cystic fibrosis, obstructive and restrictive lung diseases, pulmonary hypertension and technology dependent children.
The comprehensive, growing, pediatric pulmonary practice at MGHfC includes seven pediatric pulmonologists providing specialty care in Aerodigestive, Neuromuscular, Cystic Fibrosis, Sleep Medicine, ventilator dependence and asthma programs. The bronchoscopy program is active and provides diagnostic and interventional procedures. Both the CF and Sleep Medicine programs have attained accreditation by the CF Foundation and the AASM, respectively. There is ready access to advanced diagnostic modalities including full pulmonary function testing, cardiopulmonary exercise testing and polysomnography. The department has ACGME accredited Pediatric and Peds/Medicine Residency programs as well as an ACGME accredited Pediatric Pulmonary Fellowship Program. Inherent in the position is the commitment to education as the individual will also be expected to participate in academic training of medical students, residents and fellows.
The candidate’s primary focus will be as a clinician/educator, with the potential for involvement in clinical research for those that are interested. Particular interest is in the recruitment of individuals with expertise and interest in quality, clinical effectiveness, informatics and/or translational science to complement a rapidly growing clinical and translational research program.
