Reports To: Fellowship Program Director (Caron Vice President of Medical Services)
Purpose: The fellow is to be considered in training but will have direct patient care responsibility
Degree of Supervision: Daily Supervision to Fellowship Program Director
Main Duties & Responsibilities:
The fellow will be under direct and indirect supervision of the Fellowship Program Director and/or other staff physicians at Caron and at Reading Health System.
As a fellow physician on the Caron Medical Unit, clinical privileges are granted at both Caron Medical Unit and other Caron treatment programs.
The fellow will perform the following duties when the Fellowship Program Director has deemed the fellow competent:
Perform History and Physical on admitted patients.
Order medications and/or discontinue medications.
Assess and treat all medical and psychological conditions throughout treatment stay.
Maintain cooperation and liaison with referring physicians, physicians in community, and other medical and health care facilities.
Provide on-going assessments daily to all detox patients to determine next level of care.
Provide consultation for individual treatment, updated with other disciplinary team members at morning treatment team meetings.
Participate in other pertinent medical meetings in regards to medical management and updates.
Provide discharge meeting with outgoing patients.
Participate in weekly literature review.
Provide medical lectures to patients.
Evaluate and establish treatment plan for patients in outpatient setting while on rotation at Reading Health System.
Manage psychiatric caseload in inpatient unit, while on rotation at Spruce Pavilion.
Provide psychiatric and addition medicine consultation while on rotation at Reading Health System.
Provide community outreach through medical presentations.
Provide Grand Rounds at Caron, Reading, and other health systems.
Provide teaching to medical students and residents.

Must be able to travel as needed
Travel to units to provide medical services.
The fellow physician shall be a physician, licensed and board certified or eligible to practice medicine in the state of Pennsylvania and meet criteria to sit for the Addiction Medicine exam within one year.
Active and unrestrictive DEA license
Ability to obtain buprenorphine license if not already obtained
