Cornell is seeking a competent, administrator to serve as Director of Facilities Contracts.
Department and Position Background: The Cornell University campus is widely admired as one of the world’s most beautiful academic settings. The Division of Infrastructure Properties and Planning (IPP) is committed to providing the highest quality service to faculty, students, staff, alumni and visitors. With more than 260 major buildings enhancing the magnificent landscape of the Ithaca campus, approximately 1,000 highly talented and dedicated staff serve as steward of the campus resources and operations. Facilities Contracts provides contractual expertise relating to facilities related services for the Cornell Ithaca campus, Cornell Business and Technology Park, the Cornell Medical Center and CornellNYTech in New York City, as well as other Cornell facilities throughout the State of New York.
As the Director, you will have a high degree of accountability with regard to the relationship of the key constituencies: customers; university staff, colleagues; external designers, contractors and suppliers; trade unions and staff within IPP. You would report to the Associate Vice President of Engineering & Project Administration and University Engineer.
In this role, you will:
Provide leadership and oversight of the business, administrative operations and reporting including development of strategies and efficient systems to support the financial and administrative needs of the Facilities Contracts Team (8 FTE) who are responsible for e-Builder system administration, project intake activities and preparation of contractual documents including contracts, change orders, agreements and amendments with an average annual commitment of $215M.
You will develop best practices, processes/procedures and quality control associated with the formalization of business and legal activity between the University and external architects, consultants and/or contractors.
You will serve as a steward of University resources to promote compliance with University policies.
You will provide oversight of the e-Builder System Administrator seeking opportunities to strategically leverage e-Builder as a management tool for projects.
You will provide oversight of the Project Intake Manager to provide streamlined intake of projects.

Bachelor’s Degree with minimum five years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, including background experience in construction, contracting and/or paralegal, risk management, legal processes, the audit function, and operations management.
A minimum of 5 years of experience in a leadership position but supervising a team engaged in 3 areas above.
Experience in business forecasting and long range and strategic planning.
Proficiency in leveraging many software programs to support effective business operations and ability to learn new systems quickly, including but not limited to, FileMaker, MS Office, Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. Working knowledge of several Cornell systems including but not limited to e-Builder and KRONOS.
Experience in the administrative side of construction is highly preferred. Experience on a University campus is preferred. Proficiency with electronic project management E-Builder software is a plus.
