The Dental Hygiene Program Administrative Clinical Specialist provides administrative and clerical support to the Dental Hygiene Program, including the dental clinic. This position also provides assistance to dental hygiene faculty, students and others as it relates to clinical rotations. Clinical duties include responsibility for the appointment book, patient records, billing, inventory and the maintenance of HIPAA and OSHA standards for infection control and hazardous waste disposal.
Please note that this is a part-time position available for 29 hours per week.

Education and experience - Associate degree required or higher degree preferred; experience as a certified dental assistant, practice manager, receptionist, or dental hygienist; knowledge of OSHA standards for infection control and hazardous waste disposal required. CPR certification and hepatitis B vaccination required; two to three years clerical and administrative experience; or any combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities.
Skills and abilities - Must have excellent skills in computer applications such as Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, Excel, Access, email (Outlook preferred). Ability to work and made decisions independently with a minimum of supervision and communicate with tact and diplomacy; organize and prioritize work load, complete tasks in a timely manner, and attend to details. Ability to interact effectively and professionally with patients, students, staff, and faculty. Good telephone skills including the use of a multi-line phone.
