Champlain's ELL Tutor provides English language tutoring to English learners at the College. The ELL Tutor assists students with understanding assignments, readings and instructions from instructors; reviews and critiques written essays and reports; and assists students in understanding American college expectations and processes. Students self-identify as needing this assistance and on occasion the ELL Tutor will seek out English learning students in response to faculty referrals or requests by the Provost's Office. The ELL Tutor regularly meets with his/her supervisor and prepares a monthly report to keep her apprised of student issues, needs and problems, and assists in identifying and implementing solutions. The ELL Tutor on occasion advises, or holds training sessions with stakeholders regarding his/her experiences with English language learners.
