Full Time; Career Minimum Starting Salary: $48,000.00/annually.

The Financial Aid Adviser is responsible for advising students and their families about financial aid programs administered by the UCSC Financial Aid and Scholarship office. The Adviser will verify information on financial aid applications, review special circumstance letters, package and revise awards as necessary. The incumbent will also work with students and parents at the front counter and the main phone line. There is a higher level of responsibility as well as the necessity to use judgment in analyzing student cases required of a Financial Aid Adviser 3 because they are independently responsible for managing a student caseload and specializing in one or more Financial Aid and Scholarship programs.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check
Ability to work variable hours including evenings and weekends, and participate in occasional overnight travel.
Per the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter.

Working knowledge of policies, regulations, and practices for awarding financial aid. Specialized knowledge of particular programs.
Working knowledge of University policies, processes, and procedures.
Working knowledge of advising and counseling techniques.
Ability to interpret policies and develop procedures to ensure compliance.
Problem identification, critical thinking, and problem solving skills; judgment and decision-making ability.
