Job Summary & Responsibilities: Responsible for the general accounting functions, development, implementation and maintenance of systems,procedures and policies to ensure the maintenance of the GL in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and for the production of various financial statements, analyses and reports including but not limited to:
Manage G/L accounting and process leadership for the monthly close cycle.
Ensures regular accounting deadlines are met.
Helps formulate and administer approved accounting practices throughout the organization to ensure that financial and operating reports accurately reflect the condition of the business in accordance with GAAP and provide reliable information necessary to control operations.
Effectively align and interact with operational business partners to identify and implement improvements and to share knowledge about trends an upcoming changes.
Respond to financial inquiries of leadership providing requested information for use in effective management of business.
Recommends improvement to policies and procedures that affect the firm. Drives implementation of recommended changes.
Helps ensure appropriate internal controls are in place and operating effectively.
Conducts initial research of accounting issues upon request.
Acts as a liaison between the firm, government, auditors and other stake holders providing information and documentation maintenance.
Participate in other projects as requested by management.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
5+ years of general accounting experience; strong preference for public accounting experience
Experience in financial services industry or public accounting firm a plus.
CPA designation strongly preferred or in process.
In-depth knowledge of accounting principles, practices and procedures.
General Knowledge of fixed assets & leases as well as applicable GAAP accounting.
Proven technical accounting research and understanding of current accounting issues.
Broad experience and knowledge in all areas of Accounting/ Finance.
Strong PC literacy skills in a Windows environment with Microsoft Office products (Excel, Access and Word).
Strong verbal and written communication skills; ability to communicate with all levels of management.
Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively within cross-functional teams and resolve issues.
Strong interpersonal, decision-making and analytical abilities.
Effective leadership and team building skills.
Working knowledge of computer software, general ledger and financial systems.
Series 7 desirable.
