The Position: The Department of Health & Community Services is searching for two probationary Assistant and/or Associate Professors to start August, 2018. California State University, Chico is seeking faculty who are competent in their field, collaborative with colleagues and staff, and committed to student success. Position is contingent on funding.
Responsibilities: These tenure-track/probationary positions carry the responsibility of teaching at least three of the following undergraduate courses: Personal Health, Foundations in Health Education, Human Sexuality, Chronic & Communicable Diseases, Multicultural Health, Public Health Administration, Environmental Health, Health Education Techniques, Drugs in Our Society, Research & Evaluation in Health, Epidemiology, and/or Health Education Planning: Theory & Practice. Additional responsibilities include scholarship and service to the department, university, and community. Teaching assignments are based upon qualifications of the individual and the needs of the department.
The Department: The Department of Health and Community Services provides our students with a multi-disciplinary, competency and service-based curriculum to work effective in diverse communities, healthcare financing and delivery systems, and health organizations to meet emerging national and global health needs. There are currently 400 undergraduate majors enrolled in our options: Health Education and Health Services Administration. Minimum Qualifications: The minimum education requirement for appointment to this position is a Ph.D. in Health Education, Public Health or related field. Candidates nearing completion of the doctorate may be considered; however, all requirements for conferral of the doctorate must be complete prior to the beginning of the academic year (August, 2018). Candidates must demonstrate excellence in undergraduate teaching with experience and interest in interactive instructional technologies, and have potential for research and grant writing. Collegiality and the ability to collaborate within and across disciplines is highly valued. The successful candidate should also demonstrate a commitment to and/or experience promoting and fostering a learning environment that is supportive of individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Preferred Qualifications: CHES (Certified Health Education Specialists) certification or MCHES (Master Certified Health Education Specialist) certification. Preference will also be given to candidates who have experience creating and administrating community-based research and service projects with the assistance of students.
