Under the supervision of the Head of the Digital Services Unit, performs a variety of digital library functions including creating metadata, quality control and other enhancement activities. Creates digital library metadata for a wide range of materials in many languages and formats, including medieval, renaissance and modern manuscripts, photographs, books, serials, and maps. Uses MS Excel and Ladybird, YUL's web-based application for processing digital library collections, to import and edit digital library metadata. 1. Using established procedures, create metadata records for special collections materials for ingest into the Beinecke's Digital Library by importing data from cataloging systems (Voyager, ArchivesSpace). Search Orbis and other databases to obtain information for the description of materials including access points, appropriate subject headings, and genre term headings. Occasionally, create original metadata for Digital Library images. 2. Search Digital Library to check if items requested for digitization have been previously digitized. 3. Use both online interfaces and Excel spreadsheets to edit existing metadata for images in the Digital Library and resolve issues identified by staff and/or researchers. 4. Updates MARC and ArchivesSpace records with URL links to digital reproductions as needed. 5. Assist with Digital Library metadata maintenance projects as needed. 6. May help coordinate movement of materials for unit, in consultation with Access Services and Materials Transfer units. Retrieve and push heavy book trucks. 7. Perform other related duties as required.

Required Licenses Or Certifications:
Six years of related work experience, four of them in the same job family at the next lower level, and high school level education; or four years of related work experience and an Associate's degree; or little or no work experience and a Bachelor's degree in a related field; or an equivalent combination of experience and education.
