The Department of Global Health was established in 2007, bridging the schools of Medicine and Public Health, with a mandate to harness the expertise and interdisciplinary power of all UW schools and colleges. The Natural History Museum (NHM) in London, with funding from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, has launched the DeWorm3 project, which is currently undertaking a five-year multi-country trial to determine the feasibility of interrupting the transmission of soil-transmitted helminthiasis (STH), and to develop cost-effective strategies for scaling up STH elimination programmes. The DeWorm3 project is supported by several Support Units, including the Clinical Trials and Implementation Science Support Unit housed in the Global Health Department at the University of Washington.
We are seeking a highly experienced and proactive Data Quality Manager to help develop data management code and work with DeWorm3 trial site data managers on a daily basis to resolve queries. Data will be collected electronically in SurveyCTO, enabling the data teams to monitor data quality and consistency in real time. The Data Quality Manager will ensure that there is harmonized collection, cleaning, sharing and storage of data across multiple trial sites. The successful applicant will be working within the DeWorm3 Team at UW, the NHM, and the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine. The Data Quality Manager will provide daily support to site Data Managers in DeWorm3 trial sites. The applicant should have an excellent understanding of data management, preferably from similar work in resource-limited settings.
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Data quality monitoring and assurance
Assist in the development of data quality assurance procedures for DeWorm3 data collection activities, including drafting code for data queries
Monitor incoming study data; run quality assurance code and generate queries in a timely and consistent manner to meet project timelines
Review query responses and error resolution forms submitted by site Data Managers; write and run cleaning code when queries are resolved; maintain audit trail for data cleaning
Maintain a proactive and forward-thinking approach to data management
Data team coordination
Communicate effectively with the DeWorm3 team and site Data Managers to ensure relevant queries are addressed in order to ensure consistent data cleaning in line with best practice
Support site Data Managers remotely as needed to address data queries and resolve any inconsistencies
Track and document recurring issues in data collection or cleaning; advise on updates to data collection tools, Standard Operating Procedures and training materials to prevent recurrence of documented issues
Present progress updates in weekly data team meetings and provide written summaries as needed
Other study activities
Work closely with DeWorm3 investigators and operations team to understand project goals
Work with the DeWorm3 team and site Data Managers to ensure strict adherence to the respective trial site protocols, standard operating procedures, and case reporting forms to ensure collection of high quality and accurate data
Participate in weekly DeWorm3 Central Team meeting and present updates on request

Master's degree (MS or MPH) in Epidemiology, Biostatistics, or relevant field with at least one year experience in data management or analysis, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Proficient Stata programmer.
Excellent analytical thinking skills.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Experience handling high volume of diverse tasks in a timely manner with consistent accuracy and attention to detail.
Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
One or more years of experience with clinical trials and/or longitudinal biomedical data.
One or more years of experience with laboratory biomedical data.
Familiarity with SurveyCTO.
Database management experience involving data quality assurance.
Experience programming in R.
Computing experience on Windows operating systems.
Proficiency in French.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
Appointment to this position is contingent upon obtaining satisfactory results from a criminal background check.
Must be able to participate in meetings outside usual work hours to accommodate schedules of partners primarily located in Europe, Asia, and in Africa.
May require international travel up to three times per year.
