The Social Work Program at Bowling Green State University (BGSU) is seeking applicants for two (2) tenure-track Assistant/Associate faculty positions in its Social Work Program beginning August 2018. The Program seeks individuals to join our fully accredited BSW Program and contribute to the new MSW program, with a specialization in gerontological social work. The MSW is currently in candidacy with CSWE. The successful candidates will have the ability to contribute during an exciting time of growth and opportunities. Successful candidates may have the opportunity to assume a leadership role in the Program.
Responsibilities: The successful candidates will offer courses in practice and other social work content areas, as well as participate in advising; research/scholarship, and service activities. The chosen candidates are expected to engage in community service as well as participate in departmental and college service activities.
The Social Work Program at BGSU is housed in the Department of Human Services (with Gerontology and Criminal Justice). The curriculum incorporates a commitment to social justice and diversity. Bowling Green State University is a residential, comprehensive state supported university with roughly 19,000 undergraduate and graduate students. The city of Bowling Green has a population of just over 30,000 and is located in Northwest Ohio within close proximity of Toledo, Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio. The Social Work Program at BGSU is housed in the Department of Human Services (with Gerontology and Criminal Justice). The Department employs 19 faculty and two staff members with a strong emphasis on cross-disciplinary teaching and scholarship, as well as service learning. The College of Health and Human Services enjoys over 2,000 students housed in a newly renovated building with state-of-the-art labs, classrooms and student collaborative spaces. The social work program has approximately 120 BSW majors and 30 MSW students.

Qualifications: An MSW degree from an accredited social work program; a doctorate in social work or closely-related field; and at least 2 years post-MSW field experience. Advanced ABD candidates will be considered but must complete the degree by the end of the first year of employment. The preferred candidates will have experience teaching some combination of social policy, human behavior, and social work practice. Experience in practice with older adults/aging is preferred.
