The American Urogynecologic Society (AUGS) seeks a highly motivated, well-organized individual for the position of Senior Manager, Grant and Research Programs. This position is responsible for developing, implementing, and managing the various research networks and registries within the society. He/she reports to the CEO and works with a tight-knit group of staff, volunteers and assigned independent consultants. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a small and growing medical specialty society who is focused on the socioeconomic issues impacting health care providers in the women’s health space.
Manage research networks
Under the guidance of the CEO, work closely with project principle investigators (PI), steering committees, corporate sponsors, and network participants to ensure the successful, timely, and on budget completion of network projects
Work with AUGS volunteer leaders and committees, communications: track researchers, identify connections, seek success stories, look for communications pieces to demonstrate the foundation’s impact
Establish a very thorough understanding of all projects, with the ability to communicate the purpose, status and goals to others
Manage project budgets and maintain rigorous controls
Manage the Pelvic Floor Disorders Research Registry (PFDR)
Work with AUGS volunteers, study sites, industry, the FDA and registry vendor to ensure a timely and on budget completion of 522 studies required by the FDA
Oversee internal data management activities, database setup, and data quality control checks
Review project deliverables for quality and adherence to standards and procedures
Ensure ongoing communication with sponsors and sites
Maintain clinical research records and related documents
Coordinate regulatory submissions as required
Manage the Foundation’s grant programs
Ensure grant programs are advertised and promoted, encouraging applications
Enforce application processes, review applications for completeness/accuracy and advise applicants as needed
Manage contracts and associated reports and payments
Coordinate the logistics of the Foundation’s annual grant review process
SECONDARY FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Prepare and submit federal grants to include: PCORI and NIH
Prepare documents, slides, presentations, and other supporting for various leadership meeting
Manage and maintain research relationship with outside federal, governmental and professional organizations to facilitate meaningful collaboration between societies
Develop internal SOPs and training material and maintain tracking tools to monitor various timelines, budgets, training and enrollment in AUGS Research programs
Draft project budgets and maintain oversight of project budgets
Some travel required
Perform other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience required; advanced degree in Public Health or related area desirable. At least 5 years’ experience in a management position is required. Should possess education and experience in data management, statistical analysis and research methodology, commensurate with the responsibilities of the position. Resourcefulness, self-starting, excellent organizational, analytical and PC skills required. Must be proficient in higher-level desktop and internet software functions. Requires strong leadership and managerial expertise, excellent oral and written communication skills, superior interpersonal skills. Creativity, enthusiasm and a team focus, coupled with autonomy and self-confidence necessary. Attention to detail and follow-through essential. Needs demonstrated ability to meet deadlines and successfully multi-task competing priorities. Working knowledge of scientific, medical, and/or coding terminology a plus. Some travel required.
Additional Salary Information: This full-time position will work at AUGS’ headquarters in downtown Silver Spring, MD. AUGS offers an excellent benefits package and provides staff with a casual dress code environment. Some travel and occasional weekend and evening hours may be required.
