Harris Corporation is seeking an experienced Technical Writer to support the Colorado Springs, CO office.
Creates, develops, plans, writes and edits documentation pertaining to programming, systems operation, training, and user documentation in accordance with MIL-STD-38784, TO 00-5-1, 00-5-3 and all other compliance directives.
Develop and maintain Training Lesson Strategy Report, Instructor Planning Document, and Student Guide using DI-MISC-81457, 81458, and 81456 as guidance.
Have a general knowledge and understanding of engineering specifications (drawings, A-level specifications, test procedures, etc.,) in order to translate into user documentation.
Coordinates and supports in-process reviews, certification activities, and support of verification events with Lead Technical Writer in accordance with TO 00-5-3 to ensure TOs are adequate, safe, and accurate.
6+ years with a Bachelor’s degree in a technology field, or equivalent.
Must possess a Top Secret/SCI security clearance.
Preferred Additional Skills:
Should have the ability to produce and/or update documentation using Adobe Acrobat® XI Pro, Adobe Photoshop®, Adobe Illustrator®, Microsoft Word®, and a Basic understanding of Satellite Communications systems operations and applications.
Proficient in the use of Adobe® Technical Communication Suite 4, Adobe Frame Maker (11 preferred).
Should have knowledge of: TO 00-5-1, TO 00-5-3, MIL-STD-38784A, DI-MISC-81457, 81458, and 81456, and applicable USAF directives/specifications.
Should have ability to produce clear and concise documentation using Adobe FrameMaker®, MS Word®, and Excel® software.
Work in a team environment and negotiate solutions among functional groups (Mechanical Engineering, Software Engineering and others) is a key success factor.
Clearly communicate orally and in writing, and knowledge of computer security policies and practices.
Interpret and follow written technical instructions and procedures, as well as the ability to work harmoniously in a team environment with government customers and other contractors.
Ablility to obtain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC).
This position requires the candidate to possess a minimum of a TS/SCI security clearance. In order to obtain a clearance you need to be a US Citizen and show proof of citizenship.
