Under general supervision of the Building Coordinator, the Custodian is responsible for the maintaining of assigned area(s) to the established departmental cleaning and room/event setup standards.
This included, but not limited to:
Thoroughly clean public areas, and restrooms in assigned area.
Clear entrances and fire escapes (shoveling snow, salting and sweeping as necessary).
Setup and dismantle furnishings for meetings, events, and conferences in the assigned building(s).
Provide exceptional customer service
Work as a member of a team, reporting damage, safety issues, and routine maintenance needs.
This position will be primarily a 30 hour position working evening/overnights, typical schedule may be 7:30pm-6:00am
Good interpersonal skills. Basic proficiency in English involving reading, writing, math and verbal articulation. Be able to lift 30 lbs. occasionally and up to 50 lbs. (minimal). Ability to withstand continuous exposure to temperature changes, heat, steam, slippery floors, and food waste. Must be able to stand for long periods of time. Team-work oriented and aligned with Cornell's University's diversity initiatives.
