We have an exciting opportunity to join our team as a Biller in the Orthopaedic Surgery Department. To qualify a High School Diploma or equivalent is required. Minimum of three (3) years of account follow-up experience required. The ability to use windows based system, some word processing and spreadsheet management. Excellent communication, interpersonal skills and attention to detail required. Strong work ethic required.
In this role, the successful candidate will be responsible for performing follow-up activities on claims submitted to the carrier. Understands contractual arrangements with payors to determine if claims are processed and paid correctly. Files appeals to carriers when outstanding balance is in dispute. Submits operative reports and detailed letters regarding any unusual services provided by the physician. Offers suggestions on accounts that are uncollectible, or collection referral. Calls patients who owe balances related to patient responsible balances. Answers calls from patients and office managers regarding account billing questions (customer service). This position may be required to perform any or all duties of a Project Assistant as requested by supervisor. Qualified candidates must be able to effectively communicate with all levels of the organization.
Works assigned task management queues based.
Performs assignments as directed by team lead.
Identifies write-offs and adjustments (e.g., bundled services).
Corrects and updates information as needed to resubmit claims.
Submits additional documentation as requested.
submits appeals using standard billing department letter templates.
Recommends accounts for collection referral,
Meets with team lead routinely to update on productivity and progress toward established targets.
Identifies issues and recommends solutions.
Maintains orderly and complete records/files.
Communicates effectively with supervisor, staff and constituents.
Interfaces with practice contacts and physicians as needed to obtain additional information or resolve open balances.
Copies appropriate parties on all emails according to department guidelines.
Answers telephone inquiries in a timely and professional manner.
Recommends updates to policies and procedures as needed
Adheres to established policies and procedures.
Follows direction of team lead.
Participates in billing meetings as required.
Plans and uses time effectively.
Adheres to attendance and time keeping policies.
Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.
