Demonstrates excellent customer service skills by providing a patient friendly and pleasant admitting process to assure that patient and family needs are met in a timely manner. Responsible for accurate registration of patient, participating in on-call rotation as assigned, communication of Health Center policies, financial responsibilities, and Patient Rights and Responsibilities according to departmental operating procedures. Ensures compliance with JCAHO and EMTALA regulations and other regulatory agencies. Works under the supervision of the Patient Access Manager and Lead Patient Access Representative.
High School Diploma or GED
1 year of experience in office setting and customer service
Must type 40 wpm; proficient computer skills
Excellent Customer Service skills necessary to interact with patients and their families; physician offices, nursing personnel and co-workers. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to multi-task and coordinate more than one event t a time. Professionalism required.
Prior experience in hospital or physician clinic registration and/or scheduling in an ancillary department preferred; experience in health care industry, such as insurance eligibility/verification, information technology and/or business office desired.
Knowledge of medical terminology and healthcare benefit plans, including Medicare, Medicaid and other third party payors.
