Working Title: Post Doctoral Associate Field: Microbial Biocatalysis
Duties/Responsibilities: • Participate with Principal Investigator and other lab personnel in the design, implementation, and evaluation of experiments related microbiology, systems biology, and biofarming projects. • Job responsibilities include conducting research, compiling and analyzing data, writing manuscripts and grants, mentoring undergraduate and graduate students, and teaching microbiology or food microbiology laboratories. • Preparation of first- and co-authored manuscripts, and present their research findings at professional meetings. • Prepare project updates.
Appointment: Position is 100% time 12-month (A) annual renewable appointment.This Post Doctoral Associate (job code # 9546) position is an annually renewable, but renewal is dependent on funding and satisfactory performance.Post Doctoral Research Associate appointments at the University of Minnesota are limited to five years.The appointment provides access to University health and vacation benefits.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Required - PhD and publication record in Food Science/Technology, Microbiology, Systems Biology, Biological Engineering, or related discipline
Bioengineering, Systems Biology, and/or Synthetic Biology expertise
Ability to work independently as well as with a diverse group of people
Ability to adapt in dynamic environments and to learn new techniques
Experience with manuscript preparation and publication in peer-reviewed journals
Ability to present at professional conferences
General laboratory and management organizational skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Bioengineering of Microbes
Optimization of strain design for commodity production
Understanding of food matrices analysis and suitability for usage in food for human consumption
