Under the supervision of the Associate Director of Admissions -- Evaluations & Advising Services, the incumbent is responsible for the evaluation and analysis of academic records and an array of personal information from individuals applying for undergraduate freshman admission to the University of California, Santa Cruz. The incumbent will receive training in the review of freshman applicants prior to the actual review of the applications. The incumbent will interpret and apply a wide variety of complex faculty-approved policies to determine an applicant's UC eligibility, an appropriate holistic assessment, if an applicant has met the UC Santa Cruz selection criteria to be admitted to the campus.
The Office of Admissions at the University of California, Santa Cruz, is dedicated to providing service to prospective, new, and continuing students pursuing an undergraduate education. In carrying out our mission, we promote the campus and its programs to prospective students and their representatives, as well as the public at large; we admit and enroll students that reflect the values and commitment of the campus faculty and administration, and we ensure those students a smooth transition to the start of their academic careers at UCSC; we assist continuing UCSC students in the timely completion of their degrees.
This is a home office based position that requires occasional travel to campus.
Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Must possess a valid driver's license to drive in the state of California.
Ability to work variable hours including evenings and weekends out of a home office, and participate in occasional campus meetings in person.
Must provide own transportation.
Must provide own computer, internet access and any other office equipment required to complete the duties of the position.
Must comply with all UC, UCSC, and Office of Admissions policies and procedures, such as travel and entertainment.
Per the Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA), this position has been identified as a Mandated Reporter.
Basic knowledge and experience working with a diverse student population.
Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
Demonstrated ability to make accurate and consistent interpretations of a broad variety of academic and/or administrative policies and procedures.
Demonstrated ability to research and analyze information and come to appropriate conclusions, employing complex policies and procedures.
Experience in effectively using robust web-based and/or networked applications to effectively input, access, and analyze information critical to the daily functioning of the work environment.
