The Department of Chemical and Biological Engineering (CBE) at Colorado School of Mines (Mines) invites applications for the position of Teaching Assistant Professor beginning in Fall 2018 with an emphasis in biology and bioengineering.
From its inception in 1952, the Chemical and Biological Engineering Department has focused on education and basic and applied research that addresses problems of national interest. We now have ~800 undergraduate students majoring in either Chemical Engineering or Chemical and Biological Engineering, ~80 graduate students/postdocs, and 24 active faculty members. The CBE department is committed to the Mines’ mission of providing a quality experience for students through excellence in pedagogy, and we have eight teaching track professors each serving as an integral part of our department faculty.

Responsibilities: The successful candidate will be expected to teach undergraduate courses in biology and bioengineering and to work effectively in a collaborative, interdisciplinary environment within the Department and across the Mines campus. We have particular interest in candidates with expertise in biology including direct experience with larger introductory courses, undergraduate laboratory instruction, pedagogical research and working at the interface of biology and engineering.

Applicants must possess a Ph.D. degree in Molecular or Cellular Biology, Bioengineering, or a closely related field. Applicants must demonstrate, or show evidence of, potential for success in teaching and excellent written, oral communication and interpersonal skills. Additional preferred qualifications include experience teaching in active classroom settings, pedagogical research, and linking undergraduate teaching and undergraduate research.
