Position Type and Expected Hours of Work: This is a part-time, unclassified, CWA position, for 17.5 hours per week on a Monday through Friday work schedule. The College's regular hours are 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job duties demand. Note: This position is in the "35 Hour" category of employment and is eligible for cash compensation or compensatory time at one-and- one-half times the hourly rate for work in excess of 35 hours per work week, provided prior approval is given by the supervisor and Unit Head.

Under direction of the Storeroom Supervisor, or in the absence of the Storeroom Supervisor the Senior Mail Clerk, performs the work involved in the delivering, receiving, sorting, distributing, and preparing of a large volume of mail; does related work as required.
Under supervisory direction, performs the work involved with the receipt, sorting, and distributing of United States Postal Service (USPS) mail. Obtains delivery receipt signatures when necessary.
Makes regular and special runs for the intradepartmental collections of outgoing mail; may drive, load, and/or unload the mail truck as necessary.
Performs the work involved with collection and distribution of intradepartmental college mail.
Closely follows schedules of collection and delivery times and makes necessary adjustments for the expedition of emergency and peak mail loads.
Prepares outgoing mail. Weighs and stamps mail. Stages outgoing mail for pick up by the USPS or delivers mail directly to the USPS.
Performs the work involved in the folding, inserting, sealing, and labeling operations.
Prepares simple statistical, accounting, and other reports of mail unit programs and activities. Maintains essential records and files.
Will utilize various types of electronic and/or manual recording and information systems used by the office.
Under direction of a supervisor, dispenses mailing forms and materials to offices throughout the College.
Provides back-up support for Central Receiving staff as required.
One (1) year of experience in the collecting, sorting, and distributing of mail (U.S. Post Office or large mail room preferred).
Must possess a valid driver's license in the State of New Jersey and the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
Must be able to lift material required for mailings up to 70 lbs. Performs related work as required.
Knowledge of mailroom record keeping methods and procedures.
Knowledge of USPS operations.
Ability to understand and carry out oral and written directions and to learn quickly from oral and written explanations.
Ability to maintain mailroom areas in a clear, orderly, safe and sanitary condition.
