ABOUT THE JOB
Reporting to Director, Clinical Services, with schedule coordinated by the Manager, Intake and Assessments, this position provides psychological evaluations as part of the assessment process to determine eligibility for services funded by the Agency. Provides consultation on psychological or behavioral matters to social workers and other Regional Center staff in their on-going efforts to support individuals with developmental disabilities.
This position requires working on a weekly basis in both the San Mateo and San Francisco offices with traveling throughout the Bay Area on a regular basis and occasional trips throughout California. As a result, access to reliable transportation throughout the day to perform the responsibilities of the position is needed.
Assessment and Support
Conduct individual psychological evaluations of applicants as part of the eligibility determination in the office and/or schools and homes. Review extant records, request additional information, participate in interdisciplinary team interview of the applicant and/or significant caregivers, conduct observations of the applicants in various community settings (home/school/day program/residential facility/hospital) as appropriate, administer, score, and interpret individual psychological tests, and draft required reports.
Provide consultation to social workers, fellow clinicians, and other regional center staff, particularly on matters of educational, behavioral, or psychological/psychiatric nature. Participate in the interdisciplinary team discussions regarding behavioral intervention for autism spectrum disorder.
Conduct forensic evaluations for the Court determining whether an individual has a developmental disability, and by virtue of that developmental disability can be found to be incompetent to stand trial (California Penal Code section 1369, et. seq.). Conduct evaluations and make recommendations to the Court regarding possible placement of a person supported into a diversion program or commitment to an institutionalized setting in accordance with State laws as needed. Provide expert testimony at State Level Fair Hearings regarding eligibility determinations and findings in cases of contested ineligibility decisions.
Review of program designs for new behavioral or psychological programs, including professional training and review of educational backgrounds of vendor applicants and assistance with the interview of psychologist applicants. May participate in in-service training for GGRC employees. Attend meetings with other Psychologists within the Regional Center system. Maintain relationships with local academic institutions and professional associations.
EDUCATIONAL AND BACKGROUND REQUIREMENTS
D., Ed. D. or Psy. D. in Clinical Psychology, Educational Psychology, School Psychology or Neuropsychology
Licensure by the State of California, Department of Consumer Affairs, Psychology Examining Committee
2+ years (post-doctoral) work with persons with developmental disabilities.
Compensation: Salary in the mid $70,000s with generous benefits and time off provisions.
