The Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery has an outstanding opportunity for a part-time Registered Nurse 2 (24 hours/week).
Under direction of the clinic manager, the Registered Nurse 2 will provide care and coordination of services through assessment, diagnosis, planning, implementation and evaluation of safe, therapeutic care, in the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (OMS). Candidate must have strong IV skills, and excellent multi-tasking abilities in a fast-paced clinic.
Prepare medications for the procedure.
Assist with admitting patients to the operating suite.
Administer conscious sedation, i.e. versed, fentanyl IV push. Will also monitor patients receiving propofol.
Pre and post procedural care for sedation patients including vital sign monitoring, assessing cognitive skills and alerting attending staff of complications.
Assumes responsibility for complete documentation of patient records to the administering of sedation. Documents patient information in the HER.
Provide post op instructions and follow up.
Assess side effects of treatment and identifies additional health problems that may require medical attention.
Counts and stores all conscious sedation medications. Accountable for all controlled substances used for conscious sedation.
Responsible for making sure the equipment is available as needed, ensuring safety and adequate supply. The equipment must be inspected fully at the beginning of each day of use.
Legal Requirement - Current license to practice as a registered nurse in the State of Washington.
Graduation from an accredited school of professional nursing and one year of professional nursing experience; or equivalent education/experience.
Current BLS and ACLS certification required.
ICU experience or ED with significant exposure to IV sedation preferred.
Excellent skills in IV placement required.
Team player, problem solver and commitment to providing patient centered high quality care.
Experience with information technology healthcare management systems.
Experience in a fast-paced working environment, with competing priorities.
Professional and courteous with clients (patients), staff, faculty, residents, students, and public at all times.
Experience in an academic medical center setting.
Dental experience in a private/public clinic setting.
CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT
While this position will work an established schedule, clinic priorities may require the schedule to be adjusted.
A satisfactory outcome from a criminal background verification will be required prior to hire.
