UW Tacoma, Milgard School of Business, has an outstanding opportunity for a Director of Operations and Administration. The position works under the direct supervision of the Dean and serves as the administrative manager for the Milgard School of Business.

The director works under the supervision of the Dean to develop, implement, and direct the day-to-day operations of the Milgard School of Business (MSB). The administrator oversees the office staff, the undergraduate advisors, the graduate advisors for the MAcc, MBA and MSBA, the undergraduate recruiter and the information specialist at the MSB and oversees the budgets and operations for the Center for Leadership and Social Responsibility (CLSR) and the Center for Business Analytics (CBA). The director provides leadership and direction to the staff; recruits and directs staff to support the School's administrative operation; assists the Dean with strategic planning and implementation of new initiatives and accreditation; provides fiscal management of all School budgets to include state, gift and endowment, discretionary, and scholarship accounts.
The Milgard School of Business currently offers a Master of Business Administration, a Master of Accounting, a Master of Science in Business Analytics, a Master in Cybersecurity and Leadership and a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration, and currently serves approximately 700 students.
Provide reports, documentation and analyses to meet the needs of the Dean, Milgard School administrative team, faculty, and University administration.
Provide support for accreditation reviews; work with faculty to implement established standards; ensure the on-going collection and maintenance of appropriate data.
Provide support in the recruitment, retention and advising of undergraduate and graduate students to achieve established goals.
Use independent judgment to direct the activities of the Milgard School. Provide guidance, information, supervision and management advice to staff.
Assist with the development of marketing, communications and publications.
Work collaboratively with UW Seattle and UW Bothell Business programs on issues relating to the 3 campuses, including but not limited to, the coordination of publications, admission testing and cross-campus enrollment.
Work cooperatively with other administrative units on campus and within the University.
Review and interpret University policy as it pertains to the Milgard School. Ensure compliance with University and Graduate School policies and requirements. Communicate policies to internal and external constituents as appropriate.
Develop policies and procedures to guide the operation of the Milgard School - recommend adjustments as appropriate to facilitate efficient and effective delivery of services.
Coordinate space planning and office allocation.
Assist with the planning and execution of all Milgard School recruiting, alumni, and advisory board events.
Serve on campus committees as needed.
Support the Milgard School undergraduate and graduate curriculum management and course scheduling.
Monitor student enrollment data in the Milgard School with a view to setting and meeting enrollment goals.
Manage the curriculum approval process for the Milgard School.
Assist with recruiting and supervising Milgard School classified, professional and temporary staff as assigned; evaluates performance; mentor and provide training as needed. Make recommendations for corrective action as required.
Maintain communication with and between staff to ensure delivery of services.
Manage the faculty appointment process, quarterly and yearly contracts, and participate in strategic planning to meet academic staffing needs.
Assist in the recruitment and hiring of faculty and lecturers.
Provide regular financial reporting and budget projections to the Dean.
Assist the Dean in evaluating budgetary needs; make recommendations as needed.
Manage all program budgets to include state, gift and endowment, discretionary, revenue and scholarship accounts.
Execute or directly supervise all daily and monthly budgetary activities for the program; initiate corrective actions as necessary.
Coordinate payroll for the department.
Coordinate travel requests and maintain travel expense records.
Bachelor's degree and four or more years of experience in managing and supervising complex operations, involving staffing, budgeting, program development, strategic planning, marketing and communications.
Ability to work effectively and cooperatively with a wide range of students, administrators, faculty, staff and external constituencies on a daily basis with a strong service orientation
Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
Excellent work standards and professional demeanor
Demonstrated ability to handle student problems with discretion and confidentiality
Management style that emphasizes teamwork, communication, flexibility, trust and patience
Proven analytical and problem-solving skills; experienced in collecting and interpreting data.

Equivalent education/experience will substitute for all minimum qualifications except when there are legal requirements, such as a license/certification/registration.
Five or more years of higher education or management experience
