The Housing and Residence Life Office at Potomac State College, part of the West Virginia University system of campuses, is seeking applications for a Residence Assistant/Night Monitor. This nine-month position is responsible for providing a customer service oriented atmosphere throughout the residence halls on campus during overnight hours while controlling access into buildings.
In order to be successful in this position, the ideal candidate will:
Man the Residence Assistant desk during overnight hours, answering calls and assisting residents as needed.
Check temporary keys out and in after securing proper identification.
Maintain desk in neat and orderly manner.
Rove through the residence halls to ensure areas are quiet and residents are safe.
Monitor student conduct and records issues as they occur using computer software Advocate and report incidents to the building Residence Hall Coordinator and Supervisor of Residence Halls.
Secure buildings throughout campus as needed.
Work hours: 12:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m.; Days worked will vary
Pay grade: 9
Length of assignment: 9 months
High school diploma or GED
At least six (6) months of directly related experience or any equivalent combination of experience and training which provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities
Knowledge of residence life principles and practices
Basic computer knowledge
Physical requirements include:
Ability to walk for extended periods of time down hallways, up and down stairs, and over various floor materials and outdoor terrain
Ability to work indoors and outside under various climate conditions
