The successful candidate will be joining the Global Village Team which included Global Village Market and The Cantina and Grille. The candidate will be working the majority of their time in Global Village Market and will also be at The Cantina and Grille as needed. These Dining Services locations where built and open in 2010 and have seen steady growth every year since. We are looking for a reliable, energetic, engaging and creative person to help serve the needs of our customers. We are looking for someone with food retail experience and restaurant experience (or willing to learn and work in), who thrives in a busy environment and enjoys being part of a team that works hard.
ABOUT DINING SERVICES: Dining Services supports all meal plans both on campus and at select off campus locations. We are looking for a high energy team member that enjoys working in a busy environment serving customers. The successful candidate will need to be able to work with a diverse student work force which may include of deaf / hard of hearing, and internationals students. Hours would change for breaks, intersession and summer semester. This position may support serving from 1500 to over 3000 customers (faculty, staff and students) in any one location on a daily basis. Detailed Job Description
General Responsibilities: To supervise the operation of one of RIT's dining services units, ensuring customer satisfaction while maintaining department standards in service and sanitation.
Responsible to all customers and co-workers to provide excellent service in a friendly, sincere and courteous manner
Supervise, direct, train, schedule, hire and work with full time and student employees following university policies and procedures. Give clear and concise directions. Coordinate production/stocking needs and staffing as appropriate.
Responsible for opening and closing the unit and securing the building depending on schedule.
Place necessary orders for inventory and products.
Possess a good understanding of point of sale systems, including meal plans, debit accounts, cash prices and cash handling.
Cash handling procedures to include; balancing drawers, and main bank, cash deposits, change orders and daily income statement.
Order products from vendors as assigned by management, searching for the right product mix to offer to our customers. Follow up with vendors and RIT on any discrepancies on orders/invoices.
Responsible for inventory taking, up keeping, price checking, shelf tag creation and maintaining the inventory system (where applicable).
Assist with general office duties, payroll, and record keeping.
Enforce compliance of department, university, New York State and Monroe County Health policy, procedures and codes as they relate to behaviors, health, sanitation and safety.
Complete management responsibility when manager is absent from unit, including necessary service calls.
Carry out special assignments as requested by managers to provide coverage to the Front of the House and Back of the House
Attend meetings and seminars as required or requested by unit manager/general manager.
Required Minimum Qualifications
High School diploma or GED
3-5 or three years' experience in high volume Food Service Industry
Strong computer skills
Serve Safe certification or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire date
Ability to manage or supervise multiple student employees at one time
Ability to interact with many levels of customers, managers, students, faculty, staff, Administrators and vendors.
Required Minimum Education Level
Retail and Supervisory experience 3 - 5 years
Preferred Education Level
Associates or Equivalent Experience
