A postdoctoral position is available for a highly motivated candidate to join the Bergan laboratory in the Division of Hematology/Oncology within the Knight Cancer Institute at Oregon Health & Science University (OHSU).
The Bergan research group is focused on elucidating the underlying biology driving increased cancer cell motility leading to the formation of metastatic cancer, and utilizing that knowledge to develop targeted therapeutic interventions. The available project is an extension of ongoing work in which we have defined key pathways that regulate human prostate cancer (PCa) metastasis, and have identified a novel small molecule therapeutic that selectively targets those pathways. The project will be inclusive of but not limited to the characterization of the molecular mechanism through which the drug elicits its response.
The position will provide a unique and multidisciplinary exposure to cellular/cancer biology, metastatic disease, and drug development. This research program is supported by the Knight Cancer Institute, the Department of Defense Prostate Cancer Research Program, Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency and the National Institutes of Health.
