The Department of Biomedical Engineering at Oregon Health & Sciences University is seeking to immediately hire an experienced senior analyst programmer to develop on a Java Android platform to help us develop a tool called the iPancreas. Analyst will participate as a member of a team to develop, test, debug and maintain this application. It will run on mobile and desktop devices including Windows and Android / Apple (future) phones, tablets, and desktop PCs. The software will control sensors and pumps through serial port and USB connections. Analyst will perform advanced diagnostics and technical analysis on simple to complex projects. Experience controlling devices and writing device drivers for Windows and other operating systems is a plus. Experience developing networked applications is also desirable. Experience developing embedded systems firmware in C/assembly language for devices such as Atmel or Microchip would make you an excellent candidate. You will work together with a diverse team of engineers, scientists, and medical professionals to develop control software for a drug delivery (insulin and glucagon) device using data from implanted glucose sensors for the purpose of helping people with diabetes (iPancreas). At times you will be a team leader and oversee the efforts of a small group of staff members on the application development work. There is also a telehealth component for remotely assessing the performance of the device within patient homes. Experience developing remote monitoring software for in-home health care applications that encourages independent living for older adults is a major plus.
Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field and four years' work experience as a programmer, including two years using analysis techniques; OR
Associate's degree in computer science or related field and five years' work experience as a programmer, including two years using analysis techniques; OR
Six years work experience as a programmer, including two years using analysis techniques; OR
Equivalent combination of education and experience where one year of experience will be substituted for an Associate's degree and two years of experience will be substituted for a Bachelor's degree
Strong math skills
Working knowledge of Windows C#.NET, mobile phone and .NET compact framework, Java, Objective C, mobile app development.
Ability to maintain a high level of expertise in software applications, prepares detailed specifications, designs systems and performs technical reviews of systems as designated by installation management
Master's degree in computer science, electrical engineering or a related field
Experience developing software for medical products
Prior experience developing products that are currently in use
Experience with Java or Objective C
Experience developing in Java, PHP/PERL
