The Department of Chemistry at the University of Iowa solicits applications to fill a tenure-track Assistant or Associate Professor position in Physical Chemistry at the Chemistry/Biology interface, effective August 2018. Applications are encouraged in physical/biophysical chemistry as related to protein folding, misfolding, aggregation, and biomolecular interactions, with particular interest in candidates that will complement ongoing research in the University's new Iowa Neuroscience Institute (INI). The University of Iowa has dedicated substantial new investments to Neuroscience research, already involving a large community with more than 100 faculty members across five colleges and 26 departments. The INI offers extensive opportunities and support for vibrant interdepartmental collaboration with researchers across campus. Neuroscience core facilities under development include a Neural Circuits and Behavior Core and a Stem Cell Core. Potential for interactions with other major campus initiatives in Aging Mind and Brain and Genetics would also be desirable.
The Chemistry Department has appointed 15 new faculty members over the past 10 years and recently completed a major building renovation that provides state-of-the-art facilities for teaching and research. The University also provides a wide range of accessible state-of-the-art research facilities, such as the Iowa Magnetic Resonance Facility with 3T and 7T scanners, the Central Microscopy Research Facility, and the Iowa Institute of Human Genetics.
