Works collaboratively with physicians and nurses to evaluate and treat all patients he/she is consulted on with wound, ostomy and skin conditions.
Performs patient assessments related to wounds/ostomies/skin care and reassesses as needed. Recognizes signs and symptoms of abuse or neglect.
Collaborates with physicians and nurses to assure wound/ostomy/skin care is appropriate and comprehensive for each individual patient. Demonstrates clinical competence in performance of procedures, treatments and patient care.
In conjunction with other disciplines, develops a realistic patient/family educational plan, using appropriate resources and methods of instruction. Assists in the formulation of a plan of care. Documents patient's/family's understanding of disease process 100% as measured by record audits.
Begins the discharge instruction process prior to day of discharge to assure patient is knowledgeable about the care process when they return home. Documents all discharge instructions as demonstrated by record audits.
Monitors appropriate specialty bed usage as a wound care strategy. Assures usage is cost effective and therapeutic.
Maintains a safe and clean environment by complying with procedures, rules and regulations and adhering to infection control policies and procedures as measured by visual audits.
Contributes to the overall employee satisfaction of the department by actively participating in staff meetings and offering assistance to others when needed.

Missouri RN license
Current BLS, certified enterostomal therapist from an accredited school, certification from WOCN
1 to 3 years of experience
Requires the ability to access and utilize the patient care computer system. Must be able to use critical thinking in problem solving.
Positively promotes both the physicians and the hospital to all patients treated.
Makes recommendations for purchasing and supply cost reduction based on her knowledge.
Bachelor's Degree preferred
