The financial statements are the basis for senior leadership reporting each month, this includes Optum Corporate Controller, Optum Corporate CFO, Optum Tech CFO and Optum Tech CIOs. This role will require the individual to be the subject matter expert in designing, developing, testing and overall ownership of all Smart View reports.In addition to financial reporting, the individual will also responsible for the monthly processing of approximately 50 external and internal budget transfers each month. This responsibility includes working with UHG Corporate and the segments to obtain the appropriate approvals, scrubbing the transfer for appropriateness, loading and validating the transfer into the general ledger and ensuring the SharePoint site supporting the transfers is updated. A budget roll forward is also required to be completed to ensure that the impacts to the budget is confirmed and that no unapproved transfers to Optum Tech have been processed.The role will monitor the access level of users to the Controllership SharePoint site and shared drive to ensure that financial data is available only to authorized users.Primary Responsibilities:Maintain general ledger accounts and related activities for the production of financial statements and reportsReconcile, analyze and review general ledger accounts in preparation for month end closePrepare journal entries and reviews accounting classifications, in accordance with generally-accepted accounting principlesPrepare documentation in support of external and internal auditsPerform ad hoc reporting and analysis and investigate issues providing explanations and interpretationAnalyze and prepare financial statements, including balance sheets and statements of financial positionAssist with or lead the month end quarterly end close process for assigned businesses or groups
