: We are seeking an experienced Engineer to support mechanical design, development, and fielding projects for Sandia's Pulsed Power Sciences Center\. This work typically targets large, complex hardware systems that operate in challenging test conditions and environments\. On any given day, you may be called on to: + Lead efforts to conceptualize, design, analyze, and manage fabrication & fielding of hardware on the Z Machine and other pulsed power research facilities+ Team with physicists and scientists in the realization of complex hardware systems to perform advanced research for high energy density physics programs+ Develop state of the art sensors, diagnostics, and pulsed power driver concepts+ Travel to support project activities+ Work as part of cross\-functional teams to meet critical schedules and accomplish key technical outcomes in a dynamic and exciting engineering environment Required: + Bachelor's in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering plus ten years' experience; or Bachelor's and Master's in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, or related STEM discipline plus five years' experience+ Experience with FEA using one or more of the following: ABAQUS, ANSYS, NASTRAN, SIERRA, CTH+ Experience using PTC CREO and/or SolidWorks CAD tools+ Experience with hardware systems design+ Experience completing work within established project timelines+ Ability to obtain and maintain a DoE Q clearance Desired: + Engineering and design experience in Pulsed Power Systems \(extreme high current and voltage environments\)+ Cost estimation experience+ Knowledge of large hardware fabrication methods and facilities+ Project leadership experience+ Experience with dynamic FEA+ Proficiency in PYTHON, CUBIT and/or MATLAB+ Familiarity with SNL's Product Design Realization processes \(PRIDE, IMS, PDM\)+ Experience with electromechanical design and product realization for advanced sensors and diagnostics+ Experimental facility design experience involving large volume gas, vacuum, & fluid systems+ Passion for working in a results\-oriented and high\-performance teaming environment+ Current Q clearance Department Description: Department 01657 provides advanced engineering, design, and documentation services supporting the Z Machine, Sandia's Pulsed Power Sciences Center's flag ship accelerator\.
