Currently, we have a career opportunity as an Assistant Vice President for Auxiliary Services (Evanston Campus).
Northwestern University is looking for a visionary leader to oversee auxiliary business services on both the Evanston and Chicago campuses. The Assistant VP oversees a comprehensive portfolio including Travel Services, Mail Services, Trademark and Licensing, Vending, Chicago Fitness Program, and the Wildcard Program, Northwestern's official identification card program, for a population of 22,000 enrolled students, 3,334 full-time faculty, and over 8,000 full-time staff. The Assistant VP will work collaboratively to provide leadership to set and realize goals for service delivery; envision, develop and implement new programs; and track and report progress. The Assistant VP will lead these units through a long-range master plan, and will be a strategic partner to senior leadership across the University.
This position reports to the Associate Vice President/Associate Provost for Academic Initiatives.
Lead and manage a dynamic team of 23 full time staff. The Assistant VP will oversee travel services, mail services, trademark and licensing, vending, Chicago Fitness Program, and the Wildcard Program.
Provide leadership, fiscal and operational oversight and strategic planning for all aspects of the assigned service portfolio in support of students, faculty and staff members of the University.
Develop, launch, direct and evaluate new initiatives and activities—and refine existing service areas—with the goal of enhancing service delivery and aligning auxiliary business service offerings with University strategic priorities.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external partners to meet student, faculty, staff and institutional needs.
Collaborate closely with senior leadership across the University on initiatives within this role's portfolio.
Plan and manage projects in collaboration with other University units and external vendors/contractors.
Develop and execute communication strategies for each area within this portfolio; oversee the communication and marketing of key programs to students, faculty, staff and other stakeholders to meet business objectives.
Assist the Associate Vice President and Managers in defining key performance indicators and developing appropriate outcomes-based assessments to evaluate programs through satisfaction, performance, and needs, in order to drive continuous improvement.
Provide timely and accurate reports that clearly reflect the portfolios' performance and key issues.
Bachelor's degree required in a related area.
Eight to ten years' experience in a senior management position within a top tier research university or similarly complex organization.
Successful track record of leading the development and implementation of a strategy to achieve a set of desired goals.
Significant experience in leading, managing, and improving a comprehensive auxiliary business services function comprised of the service areas similar to those outlined in the job summary, including strategy development, operational responsibility, and budget management.
Strong record of building teams and partnerships with colleagues and key stakeholders.
Experience in leading, managing and developing professional staff.
