Computer Support Specialist provides computer technical support services to the President and Provost senior management areas. Employee will work with a team of information technology professionals to generate and maintain a robust, reliable and secure computer environment at multiple on and off-campus locations.
The specific responsibilities of this position include
Provide direct assistance to users with all aspects of computer operations including technology set-up and disposal, maintenance, problem resolution, and training
Look for opportunities to enhance existing IT processes and technology by anticipating departmental needs and leveraging emerging technologies
Assist in ensuring offices are adequately protecting sensitive data by implementing established policies and practices, leveraging information security tools and promoting end user awareness
Complete special projects as assigned
Create and maintain accurate system and end user documentation
Collaborate with peers to support initiatives which support the university's mission and strategic plan
Uphold the universal competencies of teamwork, maintaining a safe and secure work environment, and inclusion and diversity
Secure information technology resources such as printers, copiers, computer, and mobile devices
Leverage management tools to effectively and efficiently maintain computer systems centrally
A bachelor's degree in Business Information Technology, Computer Science or an equivalent level of training and/or experience
Experience with system administration tasks in a windows operating system environment
Experience with administration tasks for Mac OS devices
Ability to independently troubleshoot and find solutions to technology issues
Communicate with a broad range of users, in person and in writing, about technical topics at a level appropriate for the intended audience
Ability to understand user requirements and respect user time
Ability to independently prioritize tasks
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Ability to treat all information confidentially
Must be able to safely move and handle items weighing up to 40 lbs.
Experience in a university computing environment
Experience with remote management software (Microsoft SCCM, Remote Desktop Services, Big Fix, Kaseya, etc.)
Experience with advance system administration tools (Microsoft MDT, PowerShell, etc.)
Experience in an Active Directory domain environment (Group Policy, managing security groups, etc.)
Experience with regulatory and legislative authorities including but not limited to PII and FERPA
Experience with installing and administering windows operating systems in a Microsoft Active Directory based environment
Knowledge of securing information technology resources such as printers, copiers, computer, and mobile devices
Experience in an IT support or help desk environment or related role
Experience with creating and updating documentation
