Shop Assistant – Ware Lab Manufacturing is involved with machining and welding instruction to college aged students, and for scheduling and training of all students using the Ware Lab machine shop facility. This position provides support to the assistant manager to advise and train students with projects as required, and is responsible for safe and efficient maintenance of Ware Lab machine and welding shops.
- Certificate in machine technology or an equivalent level of training and/or experience as a machinist/welder or in manufacturing technology. - Demonstrated skills in machining procedures such as (manual and CNC operated machines), TIG and MIGwelding techniques and manufacturing operations. - Basic computer skills such as email and internet navigation. - Experience with software such as Microsoft office. - Must have excellent communications skills and the ability to instruct students from various backgrounds, and the ability to interact respectfully and comfortably with all individuals in a diverse multicultural environment. - Must be able to safely move and handle items weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Experience in hands-on design in the areas of Formula SAE, BAJASAE, Hybrid Electric Vehicle Team or related senior project work. - Industry experience in engineering design. - Background in engineering design (DFX, FEA, CFD).
