The Director of Operations and Facilities/Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds is a visionary and practical leader responsible for ensuring the ongoing operation and maintenance of an extensive, well-cared-for set of buildings and grounds, as well as the security and safety of the campus in order to serve students, faculty and staff. Supervision of general custodial work on a daily basis, maintenance of the buildings and grounds (including athletic fields and general landscaping), management of maintenance facilities and equipment in an organized and safe manner, and off-hours coverage of school-based events are key components of the day-to-day work of the Director of Operations and Facilities/Superintendent of Buildings and Grounds.
Principal responsibilities include:
Oversee the day-to-day operations of the School, with approximately 250K square feet of physical plant and 125 acres of mixed grounds, including forest, landscaped areas, and athletic fields.
Manage a dynamic team of six full-time staff members, providing clear direction on the short-term and long-term needs both of the school and of the staff.
Manage the critical technology and mechanical systems serving the School, including the HVAC system, door access system, and lighting control.
Participate in all Buildings and Grounds related activities as needed to support the staff. This may include minor maintenance work throughout the physical plant, setups and breakdowns, and grounds work to ensure the day-to-day success of the School.
Provide strategic vision on how the work of Buildings and Grounds supports and serves the mission of the School.
