The Department of Chemistry and Chemical Biology is looking to fill a limited term temporary appointment to support the information and technology group that supports the Department.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Install operating systems and applications on Windows and Macs and do updates. Includes network and printer settings.
Assist department staff and faculty at their computers to troubleshoot computer issues.
Assist in maintaining and updating IT documentation.
Perform web page edits.
Assist in maintaining the organization of computer-related equipment.
Assist in moving computer equipment in and out of offices, and making sure equipment are located in the right places, and that locations are properly labeled.
Perform hardware inventory throughout the department.
This is a part-time (20 hours per week) benefits ineligible 3-month appointment.
Ability to work 20 hours per week during normal working hours (M-F, 9am-5pm).
Working knowledge of both Windows or Mac computers.
Must possess excellent organizational and communication skills.
Is reliable and must be able to work independently as well as in a team environment to accomplish required tasks to achieve objectives.
Excellent writing skills.
Demonstrated ability to learn computer software maintenance and configuration skills
Facile with Cornell's IT environment and tools, including CU Active Directory and Quest tools, CU DNSdb, Exchange, etc.
Facile with FileMakerPro databases, either using them or creating and modifying their structure.
