Verifies invoices and assures payment, obtains authorized signatures, and forwards applicable paperwork to Procurement. Processes all materials invoices. Under the Electronic Resources and Serials Librarians' oversight, resolves problems between vendors and Procurement.
Documents Financial Aspects of Serials, E-databases, and E-books Acquisitions Assists the Electronic Resources and Serials Librarian with preparation of acquisitions and budget reports by collecting, analyzing and summarizing information. Ensures that all daily fund transactions are in accordance with USD Accounting policies and rules. Represents the library with vendors' and publishers' customer service representatives, through telephone calls and correspondence.
General and Miscellaneous Duties: Hires, trains, supervises and evaluates student assistants. Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing publications. Maintains continuity with the Electronic Resources Librarian and Head of the Technical Services Department by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs. In absence of the Department's librarians, may need to work with the Budget Director and/or University Librarian. Keeps relevant statistics on materials acquired by the library. Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications: Requires bachelor's degree or any equivalent combination of education and experience. Library or acquisitions related work experience preferred One year supervisory or leadership experience Strong math and basic accounting aptitude, as well as ability to resolve e-resource access problems, and experience with Microsoft Excel are preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: Strong problem-solving, math and budgeting skills Knowledge of basic accounting Demonstrated ability to resolve e-resource access problems Excellent organizational skills Ability to multi-task and to prioritize duties and meet deadlines Ability to work effectively under pressure Detail-oriented and accurate in all work Understanding of database functionality Experience with Microsoft Office Products, particularly Microsoft Excel Thorough knowledge of automated library systems, preferably innovative interfaces Ability to work cooperatively with staff and librarians in various departments Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing Knowledge of AACR2, the internationally accepted standard for cataloging rules Knowledge of MARC formats, the national standard for entry of cataloging data Knowledge of OCLC, the online bibliographic database Ability to work unsupervised
