Experienced leader for a non-credited recreational or sports program. Designs, creates, implements and instructs recreational programs for participants of all ages. Required to demonstrate considerable discretion, initiative and independence to resolve issues and perform other duties as assigned.
This is a continuous recruitment for Physical Education Instructors. Specific courses taught will vary by applicants' areas of expertise and PE course needs and by departmental needs. Applicants are encouraged to clearly highlight their relevant areas of expertise in their application materials. UCSC Physical Education subjects include Swimming, Scuba, Sailing, Rowing, Kayaking, Basketball, Racquetball, Soccer, Tennis, Volleyball, Dance, Fencing, Fitness, Yoga, Tai Chi and Martial Arts. Selected candidate will be required to pass a criminal history background check.
Ability to obtain and keep current CPR/AED/First Aid Certification prior to employment.
Red Cross CPR required.
Standard First Aid Training Certification required.
Will be required to complete Title IX (Sexual Harassment) training every two years.
Ability to organize and teach subject matter in a logical and progressive manner.
Capable of explaining effectively the concepts and techniques being taught.
Ability to demonstrate exercises and movements with skill.
Ability to maintain students' focus and stimulate their interest.
Able to establish rapport and build the trust of others.
