The Advanced Practice Nurse possesses expertise in the management of complex responses of individuals, families and--communities to actual or potential health problems. The APN serves as nursing leader, consultant, researcher, educator and--direct care provider. The APN within the Nursing Leadership role provides a visible and accessible clinical presence to the health--care team. As Consultant, the APN facilitates problem solving with individuals, families, group agencies, communities and/or--interdisciplinary colleagues (within and outside of the clinical setting). As Educator, the APN promotes learning efforts of clients,--staff, and students within the clinical setting, area schools and institutions of higher learning. The APN as Researcher promotes--scientific inquiry in clinical practice and uses research process and findings to improve nursing practice.
