Department Summary The University Health Center (UHC) is a unit within the Division of Student Services and Enrollment Management and is a nationally accredited (AAAHC) outpatient clinic providing primary care to students at the University of Oregon. The UHC’s mission is to provide exceptional culturally competent health services and public health leadership that enhances personal success and optimizes health and wellness for a diverse campus community.
Position Summary The Nurse Manager is responsible for the direction of patient care activities and nursing staff in the clinical areas where specialty care is provided at the University Health Center (UHC). This position reports to the Director of Nursing. This position directly supervises Registered Nurses, Licensed Professional Nurses, and Medical Assistants. This position manages operational planning, staffing, performance, and the operation of the department in conjunction with the Director of Nursing, including performance and annual reviews of direct reports. The Nurse Manager consults with staff, clinicians, and administrative members on nursing problems and interpretation of UHC policies to ensure patient needs are met. This position collaborates with the Management Team and RN Risk Management Coordinator on clinical and administrative issues as appropriate. This position serves as a member of the Management Team.
Minimum Requirements • Current Oregon License as a Registered Nurse, or ability to obtain by the agreed upon start date of employment • Three (3) years' recent experience in a nurse leadership position or lead a program within an outpatient primary and/or specialty care setting. • Three (3) years' recent experience as a clinical nurse within an outpatient primary and/or specialty care setting. • Current CPR Certification, or ability to obtain by the agreed upon start date of employment
Special Requirements: • Position requires successful completion of a criminal background check and routine screening of Medicaid and Medicare Exclusion Lists. Employee loses eligibility for employment if on the List of Excluded Individuals and Entities (LEIE) and/or System of Award Management (SAM). • Must be in compliance with UHC policies regarding tuberculosis screening, measles and mumps (MMR), seasonal flu, hepatitis B, and other immunization requirements.

Preferred Qualifications • Bachelors of Science Degree in Nursing • Three (3) or more years’ experience in personnel management which includes performance evaluations, recruitment and selection, staff development and training, and progressive discipline. Demonstrated knowledge of budget management • Experience working in a college health care setting • Experience supervising in a unionized environment • Experience working in an accredited health care organization
