Job Description - The Manager of Athletics Travel oversees and manages all travel arrangements for 38 varsity teams, including but not limited to ground and air transportation, lodging, and meals. Team travel is an important assignment that requires a tremendous amount of time (on-call 24/7 from September through May) and attention to detail. Brownâ™s policies, League and NCAA rules must be followed, especially those regarding missed class time/departure time, travel party size, and per diem allowances. Additionally, this position will serve as a financial coordinator and athletic camp & clinic administrator.
All department employees are required to demonstrate exemplary ethical conduct and conformance to NCAA rules and regulations; the duties of the position are to be performed in compliance with all NCAA, Ivy League and ECAC rules and regulations; and any rules violations on behalf of themselves or any knowledge of violations within the department are to be reported to the appropriate parties. Employees in coaching positions are required to pass the NCAA Coaches Certification Test and maintain current AED/CPR and First Aid Certification (certification is available at no cost through the Athletic Department).
1-2 years within a collegiate athletics office, preferably in business, operations, or travel; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Strong financial/accounting skills.
Knowledge and understanding of, and commitment to compliance with, NCAA, ECAC, Ivy and University rules and regulations in regard to operations.
Excellent office management skills, with strong organizational, prioritizing, interpersonal and communication (oral and written) skills.
Interpersonal: Excellent interpersonal skills to deal effectively with a diverse population of students, parents, staff, alumni, media, and administrators, often under stressful/crisis-oriented circumstances. Flexibility and a willingness to work cooperatively with other support staff to provide coverage to the office is essential.
