Administrative Assistant serves as the first point of contact in Virginia Tech's new Center for the Humanities and provides administrative support to the Center's Director/Assistant Vice Provost for the Humanities. Responsibilities include greeting visitors, interacting with professionals in a diverse and inclusive environment, directing incoming calls, identifying potential donors and supporting donor outreach efforts, managing the director's calendar, identifying grants, and assisting the director in grant writing. Other general office duties will include updating the database of prospective donors, typing correspondence and reports, responding to inquiries, proofreading and editing copy, creating informational flyers, advertising the center's events through social media and email, and assisting with organizing events from start to finish.
- Experience providing administrative support in an academic or professional office environment. - Experience with computer functions such as data entry, calendar management, and email. - Experience with software such as Microsoft PowerPoint, Excel and Word's track-changes features. - Strong customer service, enthusiasm, and communication skills and the ability to interact professionally in a diverse, multicultural environment.
- Experience using various forms of social media. - Experience planning and coordinating events. - Familiarity with Research and Sponsored Programs grants. - Experience preparing reports.
